How can my operator know that the email I am sending is made to be uploaded on pefisaur if I do not change the settings of my phone (gw) and if I do not enter a specific adress?
I read the README and I understand that...

Please help me :d

Christophe

I try to explain:

There are two separate ways to send messages to Peffisaur - either the "email method" or the "direct posting method". Do not confuse the two. The "email method" requires NO configuration changes in the phone. Use your operator's configuration - the one you can receive over OTA provisioning if you don't have it. You then just send the MMS to the email address you receive when registering at the site, e.g. p-2323232323@<domain>. In this case the operator's MMSC will know of course where to send the message by looking at the TO-field where you have the address. It will convert the MMS to an email and route it out on the Internet.

The other method requires you to set the Peffisaur site as your MMSC according to the details you receive in the mail, typically it is the URL http://<domain>/s/X/Y where X and Y are unique for each user. With this setting the operator will not know ANYTHING as you don't use the operator for anything else than a stupid bitpipe. They cannot charge you for the MMS either of course as might be the case in the email scenario above. The disadvantage of this is that, with a Peffisaur as MMSC, you won't be able to send MMS:es to regular phones any longer. All messages, regardless of what you put in the TO-field, will be shown on the web page.

Pros and cons. Make your pick.

Hi,

Thanx for your answer Smile. I will certainly use the firt method. Idd between my question and your answer, I sign up on peffisaur and received the mail which explain greetly how it works.
Idd I am totally unskilled in terms of mail server so it is a bit difficult for me to set up this service. I mean : I certainly have to configure some things in a webserver to allow it to receive the e mail, haven't I?

No, the web server does not know about the email interface. That is handled by an email server - such as sendmail. The only interaction between the two is that the webserver delivers the pages that display the messages. How the messages arrive it does not know of - they can arrive through the web server through the send.php via HTTP POST or through the email server via SMTP.

Since you are setting this up on Windows: The email interface in Peffisaur is rather targeted towards a Unix environment. It uses sendmail, procmail and an external tool called munpack to process the incoming messages. I have no idea on how to implement this on windows as that platform does not interest me.

Ok thank you very much for you help. I'll turn to a unix oriented environment but it is hard as I have no choice in terms of os.
