Well, media is always coloured by different influences and often used as propaganda. Take CNN for instance which, despite claiming to be a global news channel, only covers what americans do in the world and in doing so makes it as one big propaganda show for the US. The same can be found on the other side of things and in all media so it's nothing unique to the US of course. If it's not money who rules media then there is something else. Democracy is true in one way of course bacause you always choose what you shall believe.

Blogging, like other media, show the world in the eyes on one person/organisation and that person alone. Of course, the whole concept, making it easy to publish in the name of free speech is always good for democracy of course.

A funny sidenote is that blogging also makes news reporting faster. I posted a foto of a bank that got robbed before the reporters got to the scene and could take a shot at it. Actually...I saw the news photographer standing there when I took the shot but my picture went up on the web before his Smile

Peffis,

blogging makes reporting faster, that can benefit traditional media too. Have you seen this: http://netnewsgathering.com it s a RSS extension dedicated to making blog content re-usable by professional media

Yes, that is one thing that I have noticed as well. Once there was a bank robbery outside my office. I had a photo up (not of the robbery but after with the police cars) long before they managed to put it on the news web sites here in Sweden. The speed benefits all I think. And also the ability for journalists on the field to post their pictures wirelessly back home.
